What is a binocular camera module?
A binocular (dual-lens) camera module is a component equipped with two cameras on a module. These two cameras can shoot the same object from different angles, just like a person's two eyes.
Working principle
The binocular camera module uses the principle of bionics to capture the image of the object through two cameras at the same time, and calculates the third-dimensional depth information of the corresponding pixels in the two images. This process is similar to the human eye judging the distance of an object by the difference in binocular vision. The binocular camera module directly measures the distance of the scene in front by calculating the parallax of the two images, thereby achieving absolute measurement of the distance of the object rather than estimation.
Wide application areas of binocular cameras
Face recognition: The binocular camera module can be applied to face recognition technology. It captures face images through cameras at different angles, and then fuses these images into a three-dimensional face model through computer vision algorithms to achieve more accurate face recognition. This technology can be applied to scenes such as face access control, face payment, and face attendance.
Object detection: The binocular camera module can capture object images and fuse these images into a three-dimensional scene through algorithm processing to achieve more accurate object detection. This technology can be applied to scenes such as unmanned supermarkets and security monitoring.
Autonomous driving: The binocular camera module can capture road images and fuse these images into a three-dimensional scene through algorithm processing, providing necessary environmental perception information for autonomous driving technology. This technology can be applied to vehicles such as cars and drones.
Virtual reality: The binocular camera module can capture environmental images and fuse these images into a three-dimensional scene through algorithm processing to achieve a more realistic virtual reality experience. This technology can be applied to scenes such as virtual reality games and virtual reality training.
